Fall Youth Retreats

Breakaway, Quest and Crossing are the fall youth retreats for Minnesota churches that take place at Trout Lake Camps in central Minnesota. Breakaway is for Senior High and Quest is for Junior High and Crossing is for both Junior and Senior High. Each retreat is designed to be evangelistic in nature, meaning that the gospel will be clearly presented during the weekend and students will be given the opportunity to respond. Activities are designed so that non-church kids feel completely comfortable and have a blast! Students register for and attend this retreat with their youth group. It's a great opportunity for kids to become familiar with other students and leaders in their group.

Theme

Every year there is a retreat theme that encourages campers to grow in their faith with Jesus. The 2009 fall retreat theme is To Live in His Likeness. Our verse is 2 Cor. 3:18, “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

Speakers

Ketric Newell (Quest 1, Breakaway 1 & 2)

Although Ketric was in a learning disability class from 3rd grade to 8th grade due to a reading problem, he didn't let that stop him. The verse that changed his life comes from 2 Cor. 12, "my grace is sufficient for you, for my grace is made perfect in weakness." For the past three years, Ketric has been the youth pastor at LifeChurch.tv. Enjoy watching and experiencing Ketric moving deftly between roaring laughter and a serious confrontation of God's truth.

Vic Murphy (Quest 2 and Crossing 1)

Vic has been involved in action sports for most of his life, including racing motorcycles at nine years old. As a teenager he marked the trail on a snowmobile for the 1,000 mile Iditarod sled dog race through the interior of Alaska. After moving to California, Vic's involvement in the action sports culture and lifestyle has given him a unique platform to share God's love. Vic lives with his wife and daughter in San Diego, California.

Worship Leader

Bensonwells
Ryan Paul, the songwriter and frontman, started Bensonwells as a solo project but quickly realized the value of the creative minds that surrounded him. Within a couple years the group had gained an identity that extended beyond a singer/songwriter with backing band. The common thread for the members of the band is their belief that God is there waiting for us to connect with Him. Bensonwells encourages the listeners to look for God in a real way. Their live worship reveal the reality of their faith through the relationships they have built with their fans. The group has been known to play venues of all types in the Minneapolis area.
