Fall Youth Retreats
Breakaway, Quest and Crossing are the fall youth retreats for Minnesota churches that take place at Trout Lake Camps in central Minnesota. Breakaway is for Senior High and Quest is for Junior High and Crossing is for both Junior and Senior High. Each retreat is designed to be evangelistic in nature, meaning that the gospel will be clearly presented during the weekend and students will be given the opportunity to respond. Activities are designed so that non-church kids feel completely comfortable and have a blast! Students register for and attend this retreat with their youth group. It's a great opportunity for kids to become familiar with other students and leaders in their group.

ThemeEvery year there is a retreat theme that encourages campers to grow in their faith with Jesus. The 2008 fall retreat theme is Don’t Fall (a.k.a. slackline). Our verse is 1 Cor. 10:12, “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall.” The 2009 theme will be revealed as the retreat date approaches. SpeakersNames of the speakers will be revealed during the summer of 2009. The list below are people who spoke at last year's retreats. Matt Kendziera (2008 Speaker)Matt has been speaking at conferences, camps, churches, and concerts for the past eight years. He speaks of a radical Jesus who offended everyone enough to get himself killed and who loved everyone enough to change the world forever. Matt, his wife Suzie, and their two girls, Macie and Georgia, reside in Eau Claire, WI, where Matt is the director of “The Beautiful Revolve” church community. Matt and Suzie are also the founders of “Love Leads,” which is a non-profit organization focused on meeting the needs of the working poor in their community. Molly Barnhart (2008 Speaker)Molly is from Roseville, MN, but it seems she finds herself elsewhere quite often. Some of her adventures have been smuggling Bibles into China, getting chased by a shark in the Keys, riding camels in Jerusalem, getting lost in Turkey, 4 wheeling in Greece, eating sushi in Japan, riding her motorcycle around Minneapolis and cliff jumping on the island of Saipan. Molly's latest adventures include traveling around the country, speaking to youth and handing out cheeseballs to friends and strangers alike. Come hear her crazy stories, and the motivation behind it all as she shares about her number one passion and her personal adventure guide – Jesus Christ. |
Worship LeadersNames of the worship leaders will be revealed during the summer of 2009. The list below are people who lead worship at last year's retreats. Jon Oney Band (2008 Worship Leader)Jon and his band have long been a part of the ministry at Trout Lake Camps. The band was originally created as a youth group band that lead worship for Spring Blitz in 2006. Although some faces have changed throughout the years this band is still working to spread the good news through contemporary music. The Jon Oney Band exists today to provide quality and professional performances for people in all walks of life. Faith and a deeper understanding, is what the Jon Oney Band is all about. Nate Bergengren (2008 Worship Leader)As the music and band leader of Jacob's Well in Minneapolis, Nate Bergengren helps people revise their thoughts on what "church music" can and should be. For the past two years, Nate, along with over 30 musician volunteers have shaped the musical worship culture of Jacob's Well by bringing people into a new understanding of the ways God is speaking through the music that we hear every day. Nate also writes songs that come from the heart and penetrate to bring hope.
