The Need

Every year thousands of kids from across the Midwest come to experience an amazing week at Trout Lake Camps. But there's one little problem. The Timber Ridge dining hall.

1 in 10 campers are turned away.
God doesn't have a waiting list. But Trout does. In 2008, the limited seating in the Timber Ridge dining hall meant 90 junior high campers had to stay home. Trout wants more campers.

175 campers and staff, only 60 seats.
The 60-seat dining hall at Timber Ridge Camp is actually a retrofitted meeting room. It's not a dining hall, it's a dining room. The lack of space means campers eat in shifts. Trout needs more seats.

Even best friends forever need personal space. Industry standard restaurants and dining halls offer 12 square feet of space per person. The current dining hall at Timber Ridge only allows for 9 square feet. Three square feet doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's the difference between a little elbow room and a group hug at every meal. Trout wants more space.

45 miles and 2 hours for a snack.
Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Before every meal the kitchen staff drive to other locations at Trout to pick up ingredients. It adds up to 45 miles and 2 hours wasted every day. All thanks to the dining hall's tiny kitchen. It's so small - 12' x 14', not much bigger than your kitchen at home - that there's no room for a pantry. Trout needs more storage.
